KU-Band
One of two parts of the radio frequency spectrum utilized for satellite transmissions. Uses uplink frequencies in the 14 GHz range and downlink frequencies in the 12 GHz range.

A great advantage of KU-Band over C-Band is that the frequencies are not shared with terrestrial microwave, making it much easier to ensure that there will be no interference to the transmission. A disadvantage is that the wavelengths are such that rain and water vapor (fog) greatly reduces the signal strength.

NPR distribution has equipment for the transmission of multiple channels of wideband audio via KU-Band.
