- LC
- Local ChanneL Telco service between two points in the same exchange.
- LDN
- Local Directory Number, the seven digit number associated with an ISDN Bearer Channel.
- Local Loop
- A local channel which runs between non-telco sites.
- Loudmouth
- An amplifier and line driving device intended to be used by reporters and other
non-technical types.
The NEW NPR Loudmouth was manufactured by Benchmark Audio to an
NPR design. Sources include a line-up tone, microphone, cassette and three line inputs.
All inputs have individual input trims. All inputs can be switched to either or both of
outputs: a line to NPR and the local recorder. A non-muting monitor selector can be
switched to the output of the feed going to NPR, the feed to the local recorder or a
backfeed from NPR. There is a similar selector for a headphone feed. We are in the process
of installing this device at ALL NPR feed points, including the NPR Bureaus.
