is available for all telephone company switches used in North America.
- Netcue

used to control demods and other equipment at memeber stations.
This system is being revamped by FISPO as part of the new
satellite system.
- Network Loop
- A local channel which connects a customer premises with an AT&T Long Lines Program
Operating Center. No longer has any meaning since there aren't any Network Operating
Centers.
- NPR
- National Public Radio. You should know this one. Used here to designate
the program production and corporate NPR and not the distribution side.
Its well worth
reading Inside NPR on the NPR home page to get a better idea of the company mission.
- NPS
- National Program Service That part of all programming found on the
Public Radio Satellite System which is produced by or contracted for by NPR
Programming. Virtually all programming produced at 635 Mass Avenue is NPS.
- NTSC
- National Television Standards Committee or "Never Twice
The Same Color" The group that developed the standards for the US color
televison system. This little point has been all but forgotten, leaving NTSC to mean only
the color system itself.
NTSC is also used in Japan, South Korea and several other
countries. Other standards include PAL A, PAL B and SECAM.
