Situation:
There has been some concern about RF waveform quality on the Nagra D
recorder while using 3M 275 LE Digital Audio Tape. A few users have experienced high
errors and it was observed that in these cases the RF waveform was not square or 'true'.
(In addition, it has been demonstrated that a minor roll-off of the RF waveform does not
create high errors).
Solution:
This effect has not been seen on all machines. If high errors occur and the
RF waveform is not 'square', a slight holdback tension increase will correct the RF
waveform. Nagra has software that will allow the machines holdback tension to be changed
from the front panel soft keys.
The user should contact Nagra for information on the software.
